Toddler Bedroom Ideas: Fun storage for books
Books can be a fun part of a toddler’s bedroom decor. Especially given the fact that toddler’s books are so colorful and frequently make great decorating themes on their own.
But trying to keep them organized can be tough. (Until you’ve trained your toddler to put things on a shelf.) But these cute book buggee’s from P’kolino combine the fun of a toy with their favorite books.
These wood carts have fully rolling wheels and a pull string long enough for your toddler to use to pull their cart around full of their favorite books. It’s a great way to incorporate books into play.
The carts come in cute designs like the school bus in the picture here. Also available are a purple crown and fire truck design. Or you can get the classic book buggee, which comes in natural or orange.

Teen Bedroom Ideas: Road trip
What teen doesn’t dream of the day they get behind the wheel? And somewhere in the heart of every adventurer is the longing for a road trip.
Evoke some of that dream with a road trip bedroom theme, perfect for any teen with the yen to wander. I started with the Road Trip bed in a bag set pictured here, a nice dark backdrop that would definitely please a teen boy. The dark navy, slate blue and white palette is a great one to work with as well since it is elegant and grown-up. But enjoy the splashes of yellow in there that add a bit of fun.
I tracked down this mural over at Murals Your Way called The 8 Ball that uses some of the same colors as well as repeats the palm trees from the comforter. Looks like the kind of place you’d want to stop on a road trip, right?
The rest of the decor in a room like this is pretty easy to imagine. Road signs in black, white and yellow (warning – curves ahead!), maps plotted out with a trip, posters of where you want to go or places you’ve been.

Kids Bedroom Ideas: Cool growth chart to learn as well as measure
Did your parents mark your height along a door frame? Great idea if you never plan to move and don’t mind having the woodwork in the family room all marked up.
Growth charts are a cool alternative. They’re easy to hang, easy to move and easy to save forever. (Unlike the door jam!)
One of the coolest ones I’ve found recently is this I’m As Big As Height Comparison Wall Chart over at Amazon. It does more than just measure how tall you are, it measures how tall you are against odd things like the height of a prehistoric rodent and largest known watermelon. Your child will be standing on their tip-toes to finally be as high as the Pygmy goat.
One caveat to this growth chart. It’s from the UK, so everything’s in the metric system. (Good chance to bone up on your conversion skills.) The items on the chart are also pretty UK-centric and done in English currency as well. So pound on this chart is referring to money, not weight.
The design is bright and modern, making it appropriate for any child. Not to mention a great way to kick off a regular research project to figure out just what is a Pygmy goat!

Toddler Bedroom Ideas: Mod bedding designs for little kids
Take a quick scan through the most popular toddler bedding and you’ll see a billion characters you know (and sometimes love!) from TV and movies. And, it’s entirely likely that’s exactly what your child wants.
But what if you’d like to have something a little more flexible at the heart of the room? Something without a real theme that would blend in with decor you’re carrying over from the nursery or decor you’re hoping they’ll keep when they graduate to a big kid room?
How about a single color modern design? One really popular set (that’s also very reasonably priced) is the Metro toddler bedding pictured here that includes the comforter and sheet set. (Oh, and ships free at Amazon!) There’s also a pink version for your little girl’s bed.
Now, if you’d like to work with something other than the traditional pink or blue, Olli & Lime’s toddler bedding might be just the trick. It comes in nice bright colors – Billie in orange and brown pictured here and George in bright lime green and brown. They’re a bit more expensive (being designer and all) and only include the quilt and pillowcase. But still a nice bright gender-neutral option to consider.

Add a touch of firefighter decor
Oh, yes, you can get tons of firefighter decor items. Things very specifically designed for a firefighter room. But, let’s think just a bit out of the norm, shall we?
As I think of a fireman bedroom, this is definitely a place to consider the elements that make the whole. For example, think of the bedroom as a firehouse. And what do you need for a firehouse? How about brick walls! Easy to do with a mural or wallpaper.
Among the other elements would be poles, ladders, hoses and general fireman gear. Keep an eye out for things that remind you of those (or even are specifically those things) that would work in the room. The storage unit pictured here is just meant to be pretty, but doesn’t it look like a ladder? You could decorate the canvas storage units with something fireman related to tie it in even more.
Check out fireman costume and dress-up play sets as well. The pieces tend to be plastic, making them light to hang. You could get an ax, fire extinguisher, badge, helmet and other items that way to hang on the walls.
Oh, and if you take a trip to check out your local firehouse, you’ll probably get a ton more ideas!

Denim options for cowgirl bedroom
If you aren’t looking to make your cowgirl bedroom all pink and girly, there is at least one good way to start.
Denim provides a great base to build a cowgirl room around. It evokes a cowgirl’s jeans, offers a neutral color to build on and can work with other themes if she ever grows out of the cowgirl phase. Not to mention, it can easily be handed down to a little brother with no fuss.
One of the best denim comforter sets I found was over at Target, although it looks a little bright for my taste with this particular theme. Maybe washing a few times would soften the color at bit. It’s a denim bonanza, for sure. You could go with cow print sheets; you get a good idea of what that might look like thanks to the zebra ones in the picture.
If you want to limit the denim to the comforter, this Tommy Hilfiger denim comforter might fit the bill. It’s a bit darker, which I personally liked, and could be paired with prints on the bedskit and pillows instead of just denim everywhere.
For a big more stylish look, check out this denim enzyme wash quilt from Bacati. The colors are faded thanks to the wash and you can get it in red or blue. The embroidery breaks up the expanse of the bed (excellent for a larger bed size) and is a bit reminiscent of bandana print. This one definitely could be transitioned over to a teen bedroom without any trouble.

Teen Bedroom Ideas: Three ways to head to London
Dreams of travel are big for teens. There’s something so grown-up and sophisticated about globe-trotting and we all know they’re eager to bee seen as grown-up and sophisticated.
I’ve been seeing another big trend lately with cityscapes and travel oriented bedding and decor. So let’s hop over to London today to look at three different styles you could employ.
How about a highly graphic room in black and white with just the tiniest splash of red? This London comforter set can get you started. And the two symbols on there – the double-decker bus and the phone box – are red emblems of the town you could employ around the room to add that splash of color.
Want just a bit more color than that? You could go kind of vintage or retro with warm colors with this London wallpaper mural newly released from RoomMates. It definitely gives off that travel vibe and 50s style. Pair it with some vintage London travel posters on the other walls and some retro steamer trunk furniture.
Or maybe crisp and colorful is more your style. I’ve always loved the designs from the Designers Guild and the double decker duvet set pictured here is no exception. London Bridge, double-decker buses and other icons are rendered in graphical style and tons of colors. Those colors aren’t the red, white and blue of the British Jack, though, which can present a tiny challenge. I did find a muted jack rug that could work with the grays in the duvet and a colorful poster of the London Underground Tube Lines that would pair nicely.

Shark Attack Bedroom Ideas
Ok, it’s not exactly Jaws here. Or Shark Week even. But sharks are the height of cool, making them a nice idea for a bedroom theme element.
My nephew is just obsessed with sharks right now, almost as much as I was as a kid. We just put up an undersea mural in his room and cut out a great white shark from the extra and stuck it to the wall by his bed. (His Orca friend is protecting him at night.
When I ran across a few shark specific items, I started pondering how to make this work in a kids bedroom.
Blue is the obvious start for the room. We’re talking water and a lot of sharks have that blue-gray color to them. I really like the color scheme used on this shark beanbag chair from Lilian Vernon – various blues with
a little black. You wouldn’t want blue bedding, then blue walls, but you could do one black wall and the others white. That would allow the chair to stand out against the wall.
I have yet to see a shark comforter, but I had found these cool shark sheets from Tommy Hilfiger in the past. And note that touch of red? That’s another color option to help break up the blue. You could go with a red comforter, in fact, to represent the blood in the water. (Trust me. A boy will think that’s cool.)
Thanks to Discovery and Shark Week, there are tons of shark posters and other wall decor available. I found a chalkboard shark wall decal, shark sighting aluminum sign and a kid-sized stuffed shark to help make the room more sharky.
