airplane wall decalThere are tons of art ideas for an airplane bedroom theme. But one of the easiest and most special for your child is something personalized with their name.

And of all of those, one of my favorites is the adventure plane wall decal pictured here. Isn’t it cool? Not only is it a stylish vintage bi-plane (very popular these days), but you can personalize the banner with your child’s name.

This particular decal is made of really thin vinyl, so once you’ve applied it to the wall, it looks hand-painted rather than like a sticker. It’ll work on any smooth space (so think twice before trying to stick it to highly textured walls) and is fast and easy to apply.

Oh – bonus! You can customize your colors! Pick one color for the name and plane and another for the banner. More than 30 colors to choose from so there’s sure to be one that matches your color scheme.

Prices start at $44 at Layla Grayce for a 16″ high decal. Pick from several sizes to get right one for you.

Best rug for an airplane bedroom theme

If your son is asking for an airplane bedroom, one of the quickest ways to do that is just add a few things to his existing decor. (Well, unless he has a SpongeBob comforter or something. A little tough to pull off airplanes with under the sea!)

The quick change out of decor is best done with solid or neutral print bedding. And by neutral print, I mean plaid, stripes, check – patterns that work with just about any bedroom theme.

And one of the decor items I would definitely add is this great flyover rug from The Land of Nod.

It’s an arial view for your little pilot, showing what he’d see if he really was soaring overhead. The muted colors are easy to work into an existing decor, with blue and green fairly prominent. It comes in two sizes – 4′x6′ and 5′x8′ – so you can get the one that best fits the room. Add in a cool airplane lamp, some airplane art or wall decals and you’re good to go!

I’ve collected a ton more airplane rugs if this one isn’t exactly what you’re looking for. Lots of choices out there!
