PInk cowgirl bedroom inspiration board shines

cowgirl bedroom theme in browns and pinks with horses and boots

I’m not a big fan of pink, but I know my nieces are. They seem to love just about anything as long as it comes in pink. So it really shouldn’t be any kind of surprise that it’s so easy to put together a cowgirl bedroom with a pink theme. (Oh, hey. I’ve talked a little about this before.)

Well, I’ve decided to take one of those pink cowgirl bedding options and build a room around it, one that is full of pink, but not necessarily completely girly. A properly western room with a girl twist. You’ll notice the cowboy theme I did earlier this week emphasized different elements – more hats and horseshoes. But I don’t know of many girls that don’t love shoes and horses, so those are the elements I chose here for most of the decor. I tried to stick with woods and metals that were dark to pair with the polka dot sections of the border. The pink walls are meant to be pale so the bedding can stand out against it. And I almost went with a rug that had brown in it, but decided the subtle stripes of this one was a better fit in the end.

Oh – even more cowgirl bedding and decor ideas for you.

A boy and his dog give us a buddy boy bedroom idea

boy bedroom with dog elements and brown and blue colors

I’m not sure what it is about a boy and a dog, but they just seem to go together, especially around age 10. So it’s only natural to have a dog-themed bedroom for a little boy, isn’t it?

This particular room inspiration isn’t overly dog-themed, so there’s still plenty of room for items that reflect other interests of your son, but the few dog elements are among some of my favorites. I especially like the idea of using the dog decal on the door, since it’s supposed to be a watchdog! The overall color scheme is pretty muted, so brightly colored sports pennants and the like would probably be jarring here, but you could just start with this bedding and then use bright colored accents than I’ve chosen.

Boys are rough and tumble. And when they hit those tween years, it gets tough to figure out just what to do with their rooms. (When you can find it underneath all the stuff!)

I’ve gone with kind of a no-theme room here, even if I did give the whole thing a name. The industrial bed includes storage and those panels on the fronts of the drawers are interchangeable, so you could use different colors. Beyond that, build the room with small touches of whimsy and your son’s taste. Can you tell what my kid is into? We’ve got a touch of Star Wars with the Yoda clock, a video game rocker, skateboard shelf and poster and some fun animals. The choice of camo bedding allows the color scheme to be carried out in the accessories and details. Quite easy to keep the core pieces of this and use totally different accent colors. Or you could go with bright bedding and take your color cues from that.

I’ve done a dark wall here with the camo green, but a cream would work just as well. (The hanger  coat rack was invisible against it on the computer screen though! BTW, that rack would be great even if you never hung anything on it and comes in blue, pink and black as well.) I like dark bedrooms, but I know that’s not idea for everyone. The skateboard shelf comes from Etsy and the guys who make them do them in all kinds of colors and patterns.

Boys Bedroom Ideas: New dinosaur bedding choices

November 4th, 2011 | Posted by ideaqueen in Boy Bedroom Ideas - (Comments Off)

Dinosaurs are roaring and stomping over at Target right now. A new line has been released from Circo featuring really colorful dinos paired with brown that I really love.

These are great with the neutral backgrounds – make them easy to blend in but also the dark makes it hard to see all the little boy dirt. But the dinosaurs are colorful and fun, giving you a lot of options for pairing them with pillows, wall colors and more. Pick just one color – like orange – and go with all your decor items out of that or mix it up with the green, blue and red.

One of the nice things about this line is how it crosses age ranges nicely. It’s cartoon dinosaurs, but they aren’t too little kid. It’s a set that could work for your son for several years and in a room with boys of different ages. The style is available in a duvet set, quilt set and comforter set.
