Nursery Ideas: Lion King crib sets featuring baby Simba
Apr
For the longest time, you didn’t have a lot of options when it came to Disney crib bedding. Maybe Pooh, but that was about it. (And you certainly had lots of Pooh bedding choices!)
But, as I mentioned recently, there have recently been some Disney Cars crib bedding sets released. And right on their heels, two different Lion King sets, both featuring Simba as a little lion cub. I love the one to the left here – the dark brown sections add for some nice contrast and you can see how nice they look with the dark furniture.
The second Lion King set is nice but a little bland for my taste, but you might prefer a calmer color scheme. Actually, it would look nice against green walls or an outdoor African scene. Maybe the bland in the picture comes from the beige walls. Still, I know there are some people who like the very neutral look like that.

Nursery Idea: Disney Cars
Feb
Not sure what took so long, but they’ve finally come out with some Disney Cars bedding options for the nursery. (Actually, Disney is pretty slow about anything for the nursery other than Pooh.)
But now McQueen and Mater are here and ready to make a stop in your little boy’s baby room. My favorite of the sets available is the Disney Cars Junior Junction Fast Friends Crib Set over at Target. I think I just like the fact that it’s not blue! The warm colors give you some great choices in decorating the nursery, providing you with some of the desert colors that surround Radiator Springs.
Still, if you want to go with blue, there are two other Disney Cars crib bedding sets to choose from. I found the best price on the Junior Junction crib bedding set over at Walmart and you can pick up the Disney Cars “Little Racer” crib bedding set at Kmart.

Nursery Ideas: Crocodiles
Dec
I love unique nursery theme ideas, the kinds of things you never think about and that take you by surprise. I look at a lot of crib bedding sets every day and see a lot of recurring themes. But once in a while, I run across something I’ve never seen before.
I highlighted one before that featured arctic animals, but this time, we’re heading for warmer climes. Really warm.
It’s crocodile time.
Have to admit, I was a little surprised to see this Crocodile Rock crib bedding set among the new themes at Target. But a crocodile is less dangerous than a hippo in the larger scheme of things, so maybe it’s not so strange. Usually, you only see crocs as one of many animals within a safari or jungle theme. This is the first and only time I’ve seen them by themselves. That said, you could use this set as the start to a safari or African theme or just go with the croc as a giant lizard. Either way, this is a fun and different idea for a nursery theme.
Other ideas include playing off the crocodile rock name and bring in musical elements or use the numerous plays on a crocodile smile to kick off the concept.

Nursery Ideas: Going arctic with polar bears and friends
Aug
I know, I know. Penguins and polar bears don’t go together. So realistic this crib bedding set isn’t. But it’s so darned cute!
Not to mention rare. There are three billion (I counted) jungle crib beddings sets out there, but this is the one – one! – set I found for the arctic. That just fascinates me because I love polar bears and penguins.
The pattern of this set is actually inspired by the plight of animal mothers and their babies to survive in our changing world. And I just love the soothing color scheme it uses (conveniently shown in that block of colors on the quilt).
This Arctic Babies nursery set is from Cotton Tale Designs and includes includes bumper, fitted sheet, dust ruffle and coverlet. You can also pick up coordinating items like pillows, toy bag, crib mobile, lamp, wall art, valance and rug.
Pair this set up with tons of stuffed plush polar bears, maybe create an ice float in the room to put them on rather than a tree. Polar bear figurines are easy to come by, but I did find a couple of other items that might work with this set.
Check out the line of Oopsy Daisy polar bear art. The background colors of the different pieces seem like they would work with this bedding nicely. And if you don’t mind the penguins mixed in, I found these cute penguin peel & stick wall decals that would pair nicely. Just keep in mind the style of the art on the bedding – it’s not overly cartoony so you want more classic images.
As a final touch, consider these weighted faux leather figurines of a penguin and polar bear. So cool how the polar bear really mimics the polar bear in the bedding! They’re fairly small (the penguin is just under 5″ tall) and meant as paperweights, but they’d work just to decorate a shelf and possibly as bookends with some light books.

Nursery Ideas: Hey Diddle Diddle
Jan
I find it a bit surprising there aren’t more nursery items based on Mother Goose rhymes. I started poking around and ya know, Hey Diddle Diddle was the only one I could find that had its own bedding sets. Is it just me? Would you expect there to be others? (Don’t get distracted, Susan!)
Still, Hey Diddle Diddle is a cute idea for a baby nursery. There’s lots of animals – cow, cat, dog – and unusual activity afoot with a dish and spoon that can run. And I found two different crib bedding sets to get you started with this theme. The mostly blue one I’m not sure about – something about the dish and spoon seems more scary than cute. The other one includes the cow, cat, dish and spoon, but also an owl and what looks like Humpty Dumpty. Nice colors, nice combination.
